July is flying by and already August is peaking it’s nose around the corner. Friends and Family are sharing their holiday snaps of exotic beaches, cocktails under the sun and all that jazz… But no need to feel blue, there’s plenty going on throughout the UK you can take full advantage of!

Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power, Tate Modern, Bankside
If you like Art and you have not visited the Tate Modern in a while, the exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power might be the good occasion to pay a new visit to the astonishing gallery. Soul of a Nationis an artistic journey which begins in 1963 and follows the development of the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S with paintings in homage to figures such as Martin Luther King, Malcolm X , Angela Davis, John Coltrane and Muhammad Ali.

Are you ready for your trip to Tokyo? If the answer is yes and you’re in London this weekend, Tobacco Dock in East London is where it’s at. No flights to Japan needed! What can you expect from the event? Cosplay, wasabi pizza, anime, sushi making competitions, Japanese craft beers and more!
London Vegan Beer Fest 2017, Hackney Downs, East London, 15th of July
If you’re vegan of vegetarian this might be the perfect place for you this Saturday and if you are not, well, that might be the occasion to try something different. The event will take place in three different spaces: the inside bar, the Beer Hall, the outside Beer Market and the Beer & Wine Cafe. This whole festival, a triumph of beer and street food (strictly vegan!) will take place quite close to vibrant areas such as Hackney Central and Dalston, providing you with a lot of choice in terms of your Saturday night plans.
Walthamstow Garden Party, Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, North-East London, 15th-16th of July
The Walthamstow Garden Party is back in Lloyd Park for the fourth year; this is a festival of the Waltham Forest Council, produced by the world-class art and learning organisation the Barbican in partnership with key-local organisation in the North-Eastern London Borough. Expect family activities, street food, theatre, spoken word and much more….including acts by the Heliocentrics, the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and reggae legends Toots and the Maytals. What’s more, the event is completely free!

Comic-book lovers might be interested in the exhibition Judge Dredd to Wonder Woman: The Work of Liam Sharp at the Derby Museum , a celebration of the three decade career of the Derby-born comic book artist () or you might enjoy the Derby Caribbean Carnival, returning to Osmaston Park for the 42th year of celebrations().
